Mackie’s Night Bazaar
This famous night market is situated on the banks of river Baga, on the Arpora- Baga stip in Goa. This market is open from November till April, which is the main tourist season in Goa. This takes place every Saturday evening 6.00 p.m. onwards, when the sun is about to set till late at night. Indisputably, a naturally beautiful place to relax surrounded by the Baga river flowing along its boundary and salt water lake forms the internal side, amidst coconut grooves where you tend to forget everything. There is a dance floor for those who like to dance to your favorite music played by live bands. Also amuse yourself to spectacular performances by Indian/ international artist like acrobats, fire dancer/ Jugglers, Oriental belly dancers and many more that makes your visit to the market a memorable one. You also get to taste a wide array of Indian and International cusine while you are there. Also there are a wide range of shopping options at the market and you could hit upon a great deal at the antique shops specialy when the market is in its last weeks.
To get there follow the windy road that heads south from Oxford Stores until you hit the T junction at Baga river, the entrance is just across the road to the left. Indian store-holders are concentrated in the first section, in the middle is a large bandstand with live music which seems to consist of popular covers from the package tourists from Calangute and Baga, you can buy beers here. Past the bandstand are the westerner stalls and the food stalls.
